The First Couple Days

Well, thus far Scotland has been wonderful.  My biggest savior here has unexpectantly been that unholy supplier of transfats:  Mcdonalds.  They seem to be the only place in the entire city that provides free wireless service 24 hours per day.  Most of the other ones are a pound an hour or more.  Needless to say, this is important since both of my bags are lost in limbo somewhere in New Jersey or Paris.  This includes my bicycle.

I've spent my time instead roving around in central Edinburgh.  I had a chance yesterday to do one of those touristy tour bus trips, and it was actually really awesome.  The most impressive thing I've seen so far has been the Edinburgh Castle.  It sits on a rock that is sheer cliff...it's a pretty impressive building.  My plan is to tour it today, after I figure out where my bags are.

The bed and breakfast that I'm staying out is very Scottish.  I had haggis and tea and scrambled eggs today for breakfast, and I can barely understand anything they are saying.

There are also roses and thistles everywhere here.  They are like wildflowers...I've never seen anything like this before.  Ok, that's it for today...more updates when I get my bags and start traveling somewhere...

P.S.  There is a birthday party going on here at Mcdonald's as I write this blog.  Also, it's amazing how normal the people are that eat here.  Just a little extra info...
